Carers GP Link Volunteer

Jane Climpson

Has been volunteering as a Carers GP Link Volunteer at the practice for over a year.  Jane’s role is to support the practice identify, inform and support unpaid family carers in the practice.

Jane attends the practice on a regular basis in order to raise awareness of carers within the staff team and amongst the patients.  She keeps the practice information and leaflets relating to carers up to date and available for everyone.  She also offers information to carers on local support services and refers to the Carers’ Support Centre for follow up where necessary.

All practices have a carers register and Jane encourages carers to register as a carer at the practice, to help us look after carers when they visit the practice.

Carers often neglect their own healthcare needs and in many cases it is only matter of time before they become ill.  Most people visit their GP , either for their own health or while looking after the person they care for.  Jane plays a crucial role in helping us identify patients with caring responsibilities at an early stage.
